Courier Place
WHA is proud to introduce our newest transit-oriented and sustainable housing community Courier Place by Jamboree Housing located in Claremont, California.
Goal: Create a transit-oriented, sustainable, intergenerational affordable housing community for families and seniors, featuring LEED design and onsite resident services.
Design: Railway adjacent, this infill site transitions from commercial to single-family residential. Design is blend of contemporary & traditional – compatibility & integration with existing fabric was key.
Sustainable with “Green Lifestyle”: LEED for Homes Platinum design, including photovoltaic panels, creates a high level of energy efficiency, a healthy living environment and lower utility costs for residents. Adjacent to Metrolink transportation center and less than one-quarter mile from downtown and local colleges, it’s walking distance to a park, retail, school and community services. Housing will be offered to those working in the area, thereby shortening commutes and complying with California’s greenhouse gas law SB-375 to reduce carbon emissions. This walkable alternative to typical suburban developments promotes a “green lifestyle.”
Intergenerational: As a multigenerational community, the development is home to both seniors 62 years and older and working families who earn between 30% and 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Garden-style community contains both senior and family building, including laundry facilities, two community centers with a multipurpose room, kitchen, restrooms, and computer labs; a swimming pool; patio dining area with barbecues, and a tot lot.
Services: To build healthy communities with opportunities and resources to enhance quality of life with free onsite resident services and programs tailored for residents that promote learning, health and community-building.
