Welcome to Vista De La Sierra

Vista De La Sierra is setting a new standard for affordable living in Riverside’s La Sierra neighborhood. This 4.5-acre community features 80 apartment homes ranging from 685 to 1,196 square feet and achieves a density of 19.51 units an acre. With a mix of 1-3 bedrooms and 1-2 baths, each unit is thoughtfully crafted with private decks or patios, offering residents a comfortable and serene living space. Featuring signature “s” tile roofs, iron railings, and decorative tile accents, the Spanish Contemporary architecture seamlessly blends into the surrounding neighborhood, enhancing the overall aesthetic and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

More than just a place to live, Vista De La Sierra is a community committed to inclusivity and support. Of the 80 units, 39 are reserved as permanent supportive housing for individuals and families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. With the residential buildings placed along the perimeter of the site, the amenities form a “town square” for the community. The robust design features a pool, tot lot, and activity lawn, offering residents ample space to play and gather with family, friends, and neighbors. The spacious clubhouse, sitting at 3,279-square-feet, serves as the hub for resident services, with a multi-purpose room equipped with computers and private case management offices. The Hope through Housing Foundation and Mercy House provide onsite programs and comprehensive supportive services, focusing on economic mobility and overall well-being for residents.

National CORE, the developer behind the project, is dedicated to sustainability and high-quality construction. The community is designed to be a zero net energy community and is expected to receive a LEED for Homes certification at the Gold level or better. The energy-efficient design includes solar panels that power all units, the community room, and essential utilities, and features drought-tolerant landscaping and water-conserving plumbing.

Back in May, the project team and I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of the community. Listening to the speakers solidified what an honor it is to collaborate with our partners to create vibrant communities that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Built on underutilized church land leased from the Pacific Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Vista De La Sierra now serves as a model for future communities dedicated to sustainability and support.
