Inside University Park

University Park is a master-planned community in Palm Desert, CA, that brings a fresh take on desert living with modern homes and abundant amenities. Working closely with the developer, University Park Investors LLC, and the city, WHA served as land planner and architect to create a cohesive vision for the 176-acre community. Our team produced the land plan, architectural designs, and entitlements and crafted a color and materials palette that distinguished University Park from traditional desert styles. By balancing contemporary design with budget-friendly materials, WHA delivered a product that passed the city’s review and captivated prospective residents, resulting in a sold-out first phase and highly anticipated future phases. University Park embraces community and connection by offering gathering spaces, pools, pocket parks, trails, and over 1,000 residences that are catered to the diverse range of buyers in the Coachella Valley.

One masterplan highlight is The Grove, the community’s 3.36-acre recreational space. With mid-century modern buildings and desert-inspired materials, The Grove’s design creates a harmonious transition between interior and exterior spaces. Amenities like multiple pools, a fitness center, pickleball and bocce courts, and a spacious clubhouse provide residents with a versatile space for recreation and social gatherings, while the surrounding views of the valley enhance the serene ambiance. Esprit is a collection of single-family homes available in four layouts, each featuring 3-5 bedrooms, open-concept great rooms, and covered outdoor living spaces. Architectural styles range from Modern Spanish to Contemporary, with plans 2 and 4 offering lofts or lounge spaces that can be converted to bedrooms or other flexible uses. Plan 1 was even named Best Architectural Design of a Detached Home Under 2,000 SF at the 2023 SoCal MAME Awards!

The Verve residences are situated on compact 40’ x 80’ alley lots. The homes range up to 2,449 square feet with open floorplans that seamlessly connect the great room to the kitchen and outdoor areas. Verve’s four plans feature 3-5 bedrooms, 2.5-4.5 bathrooms, and optional multi-slide doors for an indoor-outdoor living experience.

Nova’s two-story residences include four plans, ranging from 1,909 to 2,297 square feet. With 3-4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and open-concept layouts that encourage flexible living, residents can choose spaces that enhance their lifestyle needs.
