It Takes a Community to Build a Community

WHA has the honor of working with Triad Development on Lagoon Valley, a stunning new Master Planned Community located in Vacaville, California. 885 acres are transforming into a lifestyle-rich planned community inclusive of a wide range of homes, diversified in size, layout, and style, a comprehensive amenity package/recreation and pool facility, and a golf course. The master plan also includes a new fire station, open spaces, and a town center that incorporates offices, a park, retail and more.

A key focus of Lagoon Valley is the amenitized life and connection to the outdoors with various climate-conscious features including a wetland park, direct access to local organic food managed by the Community Supported Agricultural Foundation, walking trails, bike paths, and outdoor active and passive recreational opportunities. Part of the project also includes a working farm that will serve as a stimulating feature within the community.

As a planner who gets to see the multiple facets of this project, it has been exciting to watch the vision coming to life. The first homes are going up and the project is taking shape. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the all-around true team effort – the client team, the consultant team (CBG and Gates & Associates), and our internal WHA Lagoon crew.  I often find myself saying “it takes a community to build a community” and in my opinion, this motto rings true for Lagoon Valley. I am grateful to be working with people that are encouraging to one another, helpful, and knowledgeable when it comes to their expertise. Triad Development has crafted a team environment where all players are free to express their creativity and energy which will positively be reflected in the soul of this community as it develops over time.

Triad has entrusted WHA to work on the architectural design of the community including the interim fire station, a welcome center, community recreation buildings, and design of various residential neighborhoods. WHA is encapsulating the project in the policy document, and to tie up the package, the cherry on the top, WHA’s Rendering  Studio has produced visual exhibits both in still frame and video.

We are thankful for opportunities such as this to help create new places that embrace quality of life and day-to-day living in many ways. Such collaboration is unmatched and paramount for large scale projects like  Lagoon Valley; at WHA, we stand behind the importance of teams and relationship-building to build great communities.
