CBIA Professional Women in Building
WHA is a strong supporter of the Professional Women in Building Council. It was during my time at WHA in 2012, that I joined the Professional Women in Building. Since then, I have served PWB in various volunteer positions and in 2017, became the Chair for PWB BIA Bay Area. Currently, I am the 2020 Chair for the PWB Council at the Building Industry Association for the State of California.
The CBIA Professional Women in Building Council is the voice of women in the building industry, dedicated to supporting our members at the local, state and national levels by offering networking and educational opportunities, legislative awareness and outreach, and professional and personal development. Our council’s efforts are just a few of the many ways we support homebuilding and give back to our community.
Through the PWB council, I have been able to meet professionals with diverse backgrounds. Thanks to the PWB network of homebuilding professionals, I can reach out to various disciplines within the industry nationwide. Having a powerful network of industry professionals helps you get the required expertise to make any project successful.
The PWB Programs bring the latest trends and challenges in the building industry. When you join the Building Industry Association and its councils, you join the ranks of other dedicated, ambitious and successful women and men throughout the country who support and uplift one another, both personally and professionally. Serving the PWB instills leadership qualities and empowers you to make personal and professional advancements in your career. I have been fortunate to be mentored by industry leaders and have mentored the next generation of leaders.
Despite the pandemic, the CBIA PWB council accomplished several virtual programs this year focusing on legislative awareness, innovative educational, networking, and fundraiser events. We also announced the distribution of up to $3,000 in scholarships. We believe that scholarships are an important means to further education and careers in our building industry. With these, our education goals were ultimately achieved to further professional development opportunities.
As a CBIA PWB member, you can build a network, attend programs to professionally advance your career, participate in mentoring, volunteer in outreach efforts to give back to the community, receive scholarships for continued education, learn about industry trends and updates, support legislative initiatives, and become a leader. If you are interested in becoming a member, download the membership application on our website or request one from cbiapwb@gmail.com.
