WHA in San Francisco – 2016 PCBC Recap
The Danville Hotel struck gold again!
WHA is proud to accept another Gold Nugget Grand Award for Residential Housing Project of the Year (Suburban).
Here is judges’ statement on this project:
“The goal of this ambitious project was to revitalize a prominent portion of the Danville, California main street. The mixed-use development is anchored by the conversion and restoration of a 125-year-old hotel into a new restaurant and two affordable apartments upstairs. Two other new structures containing retail and 16 residential units above a one story parking structure complete the site. These new buildings honor the Victorian vernacular through material palette, window types and trim. All these architectural elements adhere to the states’ Guidelines for Historic Preservation. The development of three buildings breaks the building massing into smaller more pedestrian friendly structures. The four-sided architecture creates a pedestrian friendly courtyard between the buildings encouraging people to meander through the site.”

In its 58th year, PCBC (Pacific Coast Builders Conference) now draws attendees from all over the Country, Canada, Mexico and 25 other countries. This year, the conference site was San Francisco’s Moscone Center.
WHA would like to congratulate Douglas Bauer, Kevin Carson, Ian Gill, Carl Lagoni, Cheryl O’Connor and Timothy Sullivan. They join our very own Bill Hezmalhalch in the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame.
In addition to the Hall of Fame induction, various members of WHA attended a keynote speech by Joshua Cooper Ramo, the #RevelSF Party at AT&T Park and the Gold Nugget Ceremony.
Others attended talks and walked the exhibit floor meeting people and learning about all the new products and opportunities in the construction industry.
On Thursday, WHA hosted a luncheon at Mourad, a beautiful Moroccan restaurant just a short walk from the conference site. Thank you to all who attended. It was great to spend time with many of our clients and consultants.
We look forward to seeing you next year in San Diego for PCBC 2017!
