WHA Tours Downtown Santa Ana

On Friday, July 12th, our staff had the opportunity to tour several historical sites in Downtown Santa Ana.  With history dating back to the early 1900’s, Santa Ana was formerly known as the “place to be” in Orange County. However, low income rates paired with increased affordable housing have created a negative reputation for the city over the last few years.  Recently, the city has been trying to bring back life into the community by introducing new businesses and residential buildings that create an attractive streetscene for it’s inhabitants.  Businesses and homes are becoming places where people are excited and proud to live and work.

During our tour, we visited the West End Theater Building, the Phillips Block Building, the Grand Central Arts Building, the Santorra Building, the WH Spurgeon building as well as the DGWB Advertising Building.  In addition to seeing these historical landmarks, we also toured projects designed by our firm over the last few years. These projects include, Santa Ana’s, Project of the Year Award winner – Triada Court and Triada Gardens as well as Santiago Lofts, Santa Ana Lofts and the Little Sparrow Restaurant.

Thanks to everyone who could make it out for the tour! We’re looking forward to more project tours in the future!
