Oakgrove Walk – An Organic Feel that Focuses on Tree Preservation
WHA is excited to announce an upcoming community by The Olson Company, Oakgrove Walk located in La Verne, California.
The founding ideals for this creative site design was to balance the preservation of existing healthy oak trees, infrastructure improvements and desire of the city and homebuilder to provide quality new housing in an area prime for revitalization. In order to meet the challenge, a clever mix and integration of conventionally front-loaded and traditional rear-loaded homes were strategically placed, in and amongst the open space and native trees, which resulted in an attractive organic site plan.
Architecturally, the home styles are historic to the locale as classic California Spanish, Bungalow and Cottage elevation themes prevail. Retro-horizontal wood fencing, a naturalized planting palette by logical zones and a mix of materials such as stone, brick and wood add character and richness to the design. Supplementing the existing oak trees, additional trees are introduced, adding to the wonderful neighborhood feeling. Pedestrian pathways meander between groves of oak trees, special passive amenities and private homes, emphasizing a healthy livable environment. Uniquely nestled amongst the mature oak trees, this community will feel established and special the day it opens!
WHA’s Placewright Design Studio created the logo utilizing the oak tree and focusing on the desire of a close knit community feel.
